[H-GEN] Cannot install VPN

Hello Humbug,

I cannot install my VPN on my Debian laptop

My VPN is www.privateinternetaccess.com

I am following the Guide for installing on Linux

I run this command
sh pia-linux-3.3.1-06924.run

It says [sudo] password for nick:
and I type in my root password
but it says Sorry, try again

I know that I am typing in my root password correctly. I have tested this
by logging out and logging in again as root, just to be sure that I am
remembering the root password correctly.

Is there something missing from the sudoers file?
I just assumed that root was automatically in the sudoers file
