Hi Rod,
I hope you find someone able to make good use of the old laptops but in
case you don't I wanted to point out a great alternative to putting them in
the bin. I recently came across Tony from Substation33 [1] and would highly
recommend them to help you dispose of any old computer/network/random
ewaste stuff you might have.
I don't normally recommend this sort of stuff but these guys tick so many
boxes it's ridiculous, they:
* reuse everything where possible or completely recycle where needed
* work with long term disadvantaged community members to build their skill
set
* get involved in the local community to engage high school students in
engineering - they have a 3D printer they use to make more 3D printers that
they supply to schools for the students to engage with
* even come and pick it up if you have a bunch of it
I figured there might be others on the list who might be interested in a
place happy to help you get rid of your old gear so figured I'd send it to
the list as well.
