How better to open this year's Open Source Developers' Conference than
with an old friend in our community, someone who you may not have seen
for a while... and he's been quietly doing awesome stuff!

Richard Keech will be our opening keynote speaker, with the topic
Linux-based Monitoring and Control in a Sustainable House.

Based in Melbourne, Richard works as an energy-efficiency consultant
after ten years with Red Hat as senior systems architect and chief
instructor. Prior to Red Hat he worked as a software engineer and system
administrator. He was the first Red Hat Certified Engineer, and the
original creator of the rktime utility available on most Linux distros.

Richard was a lead author of the Zero Carbon Australia Buildings Plan
released in 2013, with his home as the residential case study.

The Open Source Developers' Conference 2014 will be held at Griffith
University Gold Coast campus, 4-6 November.
