Hey,
First time posting to a list so let me know if I have done anything wrong.
There is also the option of Firefox OS. I think the company one of the
companies that produces them is Spanish and called Geeksphone.
http://www.geeksphone.com/
I don't know if they ship to Australia but there is always the grey
import option (google Australian Grey importers)
If the reason you don't want the big A is because of Google you can also
use Android without Gapps, side load you're favourite APK's and have a
phone with all the benefits of the fully developed Mobile OS without the
draw cards of Google tracking.
If the reason you don't want the big A is to run full on X apps it might
be worth installing SailfishOS (the Jolla OS) on a Nexus they will be
releasing the code to do this soonish I think. I'm reasonably sure they
have Xwayland in the code somewhere.
Cheers,
Andrew
