[ Humbug *General* list - semi-serious discussions about Humbug and ]
[ Unix-related topics. Please observe the list's charter. ]
[ Worthwhile understanding: http://www.humbug.org.au/netiquette.html ]

Three solutions

1 - Bugger the desktop off. Pick a windowmanager and a gui filemanager
if you want - rox-filer does rock ;-)
2 - OEM's and the computer friend that everyone has
3 - Galeon

The staroffice6 beta only lives on my machine to open notes sent out by
one lecturer as word docs. I use Kword to do all my assignments, resume
etc and save/print them as PDF.

I think maybe distros have the wrong idea. What they should be doing is
putting together packages where you have a best of breed setup or even
just best integreated like a kde or a gnome only distro instead of the
jack of all trades try to be everything to everyone distro.

The other question is whose desktop is this? The installation issue is
irrelevent for a corporation - they have admins. Developer desktops -
they know what they are doing. Home-user desktops - why can't they jsut
use windows. Live and let live. So long as we don't let MS run us into
a proriatory format corner.

Anyway gotta go to class
