removed MSOffice and replaced it with OpenOffice.Org build 638..... slow 
slow slow, but I haven't yet opened a file that i can't convert. Played 
powerpoint presentations no problems. Opened excel spreadsheets no 
problems. Even word files with graphics in them weren't a hassle.

the speed decrease is a pain. So is the fact that sometimes programs won't 
start if they don't like what I'm already running (file-sharing community 
software is a big one it doesn't like)

After this, I'm not really keen to install it in linux, as my machine tends 
to have better response times in windows (unfortunately). However, if I had 
an up to date system such as a duron 800 or better I would use it in linux 
no problems.
