[ Humbug *General* list - semi-serious discussions about Humbug and ]
[ Unix-related topics. Please observe the list's charter. ]
[ Worthwhile understanding: http://www.humbug.org.au/netiquette.html ]

Hello.

If your modem doesn't understand local dialtone, you should be able to
disable it with ATX3, or by adding X3 to an appropriate looking AT command
in your config. If your modem does understand local dial tone, then you
should investiagate why it isn't recieving one... ie, is it connected to
the world at all? :)

This AT command is given directly to your modem, and shouldn't require any
configuration on your machine at all. Just make sure it's issued after
the ATZ (reset) command :)

Benjamin.

I have Communic8 which has no dialtone. Hears my wvdial.conf file.
