G'day All,
Subject: replacing Windows Shutdown Splash screen with ‘The Tux'
Some time back I was given a non MS splash screen depicting clawing
hands on a red background, and it looks great during boot up. It's the
file  logo.sys in C:\, and replaces the original with no worries and
works just fine - getting all the required attention.
What I want to do is get a Tux splash screen to replace logos.sys and
logow.sys [in \windows]

At Humbug last week I got a pair of very nice Penguins doing Linux
things and edited them with GQview, to have the correct headings.
Then I converted them from JPEG to BMP file format and renamed the
extension ‘.sys'. Same as the original one I was given, I thought. But
this could be where I went wrong?
Then I deleted the originals and installed the two Tux, with the .sys
file extensions, in the windows folder.
 
However MS does not see them and just comes up with a text screen [which
is better than the clouds, I confess] but I really want to advertise
the  Linux o/s to my wife each time she shuts down her computer.

Can anyone tell me where I have gone wrong with the graphics? I know
they are installed in the right place.
