Realistically those are going to need dedicated workstations no-matter 
what path is decided. I think the majority of applications that the 
non-media intensive workers are likely to need could be done in VDI 
though.

Griffith University has recently deployed VDI for the common-use labs 
and it seems to work well, even for those who need to do some quite lite 
photoshopping. For word processing and whatnot you don't notice the tiny 
little delay after a minute.

I was recently watching the QuakeCon keynote by John Cormac, and he 
says that the majority of latency in game-streaming services is actually 
at the client end - not in the connection to the streaming server. 
Interesting food for thought there.
