Shipment overseas when compared with landful is just a choice of worse over bad.
The conditions under which the stuff is recycled tends to be dismal, both for the workers as well as for the environment.

I know this list is frequented by people with connections and knowledge, so I'm hopeful someone will pipe up even if it's about getting it to another facility.

Of course it would be even better if someone can use the working item.
I gave away my own old 19" in this way, made one person happy as they specifically wanted a CRT iirc.
