Hey folks,
One of the oddest things I've done at The Edge is coming up next
weekend, the Libraryhack 2011 24hr Lock-In.
Libraryhack 2011 is a national competition run by Australian state
libraries to encourage the use of reusable data sets made available by
them and other government agencies. The main competition is to make
the best possible data mash-up application combining the provided
resources and your creativity. The main prize for the national
competition is $6k.
As an aid to completing your submission to the national competition
the Queensland State Library is hosting a 24 hour Lock-In event at The
Edge starting on the 28th. There will be speakers from Microsoft,
Google and the State Library describing the data sets and tools you'll
need for your submission. There are prizes for the best work done
during the Lock-In.
There is a free workshop on basic data mash-up and visualisation
skills at The Edge tomorrow, Sunday 22nd of May, full details:

I'm helping to organise the fun stream of the Lock-in, with movies,
music, and other games of skill. To register your interest please see

Yes, I'm going to have to skip Indian for this.
