Nor with Fedora which has incidentally handled my wireless far better,
and supported much earlier, than ubuntu, in fact, even an old Slackware
10.2 worked out the box with it, when ubuntu failed, however as of
10.04, they seem to have "caught up" with Fedora in that respect since
it works out the box now, If you have concerns for more modern drivers,
I'd be going with Fedora since its more bleeding edge.

Some intel chipsets are problematic, but thats intel and kernels shit
fight, IOW, it affects every distro.
