Thanks for the suggestions. I managed to get things working again
(partially by fluke).
Here is what I did in case someone finds it useful.
On Ubuntu Lucid ( need to get dvb-apps)
1. mkdir .tzap
2. scan /usr/share/dvb/dvb-t/au-Brisbane > .tzap/channels.conf
3. Test by:
a. in one window: tzap -r -c .tzap/channels.conf "Nine Digital"
(or whatever channel you want to test - get the name from channels.conf
b. in another window: mplayer /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0
That picked up Ch 9 for me (which was the problem) and so gave me some
vague confidence.
4. start MythTV Backend Setup
5. Go to Channel Editor
6. By experiment I think I needed to do this: go to Edit Transports and
choose each and press the 'd' to delete - you should be left with (New
Transport)
7. Go back on level (Esc) and choose Channel Scan - for Scan Type choose
Import channels.conf and
give the channels.conf from step 2 (I used the full path)
8. Exit the backend and test on the frontend.
I first tried it without deleting the old transports and that didn't
work so it seems step 6 was necessary for me.
Now I can record next Sunday's Sherlock Holmes and watch it later with
the ads removed :)
