Heya all
I've been forced to temporarily suspend my lurking and make a request for
assistance.
I've been asked to modify a php based messageboard based on phpBB (MySQL
backend) so that
a) messageboard registration is restricted to members of a certain
organisation;
b) upon a user's registration on the messageboard, their organisation
membership status is automatically checked against that organisations MS-SQL
database;
c) depending on whether the user's membership is current, if that user is
furthermore of a certain rank within the organisation, add them to a number
of phpBB groups which will give them access to certain restricted forums
d) a similar check to be performed upon each login attempt to ensure that
those user's who's organisation membership has lapsed will be denied access
to the messageboard;
d) the phpBB messageboard and database are on different remote servers
without any direct link
e) to SSL encrypt traffic between the messageboard and the orgnisation's
membership server
It has been some eight years since I worked professionally in the IT
industry and a long time since I've had to do any true coding of php/sql as
apposed to the odd edit of existing code.
Could anyone point me to any resources to help with the above?
Kind regards
Christian
