As Marco has said the O'Week stuff is completed now,
with mixed levels of success. I will give a brief
talk on what we did, how it went, and how we might be
able to do better next year.

Secondly, I have heard back from QUT regards bidding
for LCA 2011, so I say something about that.

Thirdly, I see if I can't generate some enthusiasm
for a series of basic "How To" talks on Linux, as
suggested by Peter Robertson (UQ Lecturer) in his
post to this list earlier.

If you have been using 'nix for more than a year of
so, then you have enough background to give one of
talks with some authority. I suspect most of us
regulars are capable of giving one. The issue is
more one of learning how to organise and present a
talk, and getting the energy to do so. I'll see
what we can do to make the this task easier.

Finally, hopefully given the 100 or so posters we
hung around the campuses and the CD's we handed out,
we may have a few curious soul's turning up to see
what we are about. So if you see someone new
looking about try to make them welcome. Say hello,
introduce yourself, and ask what they looking for.
It may be just chat with a kindred soul, it be help
with some problem. IMHO as a group Humbug does both
those things pretty well, so with a little bit of
guidance they are bound to find what they are looking
for. So take the time to listen to them and point
them in the right direction, or to the right person.
If you are just about to leave for dinner when they
arrive you can always invite them along and chat
over food.
