Sounds like a fine idea to me, especially at UQ O week. It will take some
work of course, and designating a friendly welcoming officer/s at Humbug
would need to go hand in hand with handing out the FOSS CD's.

While desktop Linux is about as good as it's ever been and improving, it's
worth being sober (and not judgemental) of our assessment of the average
student's IT skills, as this sad article highlights:

For most people with low IT skills and little interest in expanding them a
"classic bread-and-butter computer" is one with windows, even if they don't
know what windows is.

While Humbug should not make it it's mission to convert every Windows user
on the planet, when one does come to a meeting with genuine albeit simple
questions, it would not hurt us nor them to introduce them to the culinary
delights that Linux and FOSS have to offer.

Just my 2c worth.

Cheers,
Marco
