1st make sure that the modem is connected. You should know that by the
adsl light being on. It will flash if it's trying to get connected.
If that's not on then you need to check the user name and password.
sometimes these modems require a bit of playing around to make them save
information. Persist. For the user name you may need to try a few
combinations say username at bigpond.com
or just username or username at bigpond or username at bigpond.net.au. I have
found their servers sometimes picky about the exact combination. Next if
your using multiple pc's (this includes Apple and Linux) use dhcp and
NAT. Also unless you have a good reason keep the pc's set to
"automatically obtain ip address and DNS" (Windows) or DHCP which means
the same thing. That way you allow the modem to chose the IP addresses
and you should run into problems with accidentally having 2 pc's on the
same IP address.
