[H-GEN] Spamassassin whitelist_from not working?

I have a Debian server that has spamassassin installed. I have added
some custom scoring rules to the /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf file
and they work nicely.

What doesn't seem to work is the whitelist_from entries I've added. They
seem to be getting ignored as addresses that I've listed in there are
still getting marked as spam.

I've use run the suggested lint command with no output resulting. I'm
assuming that no output means no syntax errors.

One that definitely seems to be ignored is:
whitelist_from  *@holidays.net

The caught emails contain this line:
X-Spam-Status: Yes, hits=8.113 required=5
tests=BAYES_99,HTML_IMAGE_ONLY_20,HTML_MESSAGE,HTML_SHORT_LINK_IMG_3,MIME_HEADER_CTYPE_ONLY,MIME_HTML_ONLY

Can anyone suggest what might be wrong please? Thank you.
