[H-GEN] Nomination for Secretary (Answer to Arjen's question)

1st I would like to say thank you to Tony for his nice words
and for seconding my nomination.

Arjen asked:

I can give you what I currently know. That is we have about 
40 members. We may get a number of renewing members at the 
AGM so that may increase. Of that 40 only about 4 are new 
members. We may have lost some old members or we may just 
find that they simply haven't renewed yet. 

Last year we had 45 members. I cannot, at this point, give you 
how many last year were new and how many were renewing members.

We have a number of people that have just started coming to 
HUMBUG. Since it is to late to vote and the AGM is almost upon 
us it has been pointless for them to join. I therefore suspect 
that after the AGM we will get about 4 more people joining.

After talking to a couple of new members one of the reasons why 
they came was due to the posters that Russell and a group of 
us put up. Also the fact that we have had an open and friendly 
attitude to new members has helped them to stay.

It would be interesting to see if we can improve those figures 
next year. Try and explore ways which we get new members and make
sure that we keep them.

I hope that helps to answer your questions Arjen. If you want me 
to dig a bit further I might be able to find out a little bit more 
but it will take me a lot more time.
