Here is a status update for the LCA 2010:

Bid & Budget.

I have tidied up the bid and submitted the new version to LA.
I have also updated the budget we submitted for LCA 2009
using the actual figures from LCA 2008. Donna Benjamin got
the LCA 2008 figures for me. Donna has been fantastic - every
time I make a request she usually responds with 24 hours.

You can find the current version of the Bid here:

The current version of the budget is here, but you have to log
into the wiki to view it:

Letters of Support.

The "Letters of Support" was a success, in the end, even if it
did take a lot of chasing. The best part in the end possibly
isn't the letters themselves. It was that it force me to make
personal contact with all of the open source businesses around
  town.

  You can find them here:

Speakers Dinner.

You probably all remember that we all liked the "Customs
House" option. I guess that wasn't surprising as it was also
the most expensive. I had hoped to get the price down,
because they offered 5 hours worth of unlimited drinking in
the price - which I thought was too much. So I asked them
to quote for 2 hours. There was a huge $10 reduction, which
I thought was small. So for now I am still puzzling over
what we should do. I am hoping the tour of the city that
will accompany LA's evaluation visit will help.

The ideas Brisbane Marketing came up for the speakers dinner
are here. If you are interested, I suggest you check out
out the web sites of the venues:

Linux Australia's evaluation visit.

Stewart will be visiting us on the weekend of the humbug
meeting on the 4/Oct. I hope as many Bid committee members
will turn up to that meeting as possible. This includes
those I have not seen recently:

    Elspthe,
    Marco,
    Shaun.

  Preliminary itinerary:

Meet at the Humbug Meeting at around 4PM.
Move as a group over to QUT.
    Tour QUT.
Dinner at some restaurant or other.
Go back to Humbug, the disperse.

That's Saturday's itinerary anyway. Currently Brisbane
Marketing is trying to tempt Stewart with a day an on
the town, chaperoned by one of the one of their fine
looking female staff members. If it happens, that will
be on the Fri the 3rd of Oct, and Stewart will be shown
all venues bar QUT. If it doesn't happen we have to
visit them on the 4th, probably prior to the Humbug
  meeting.

I think that is it. We won't know the outcome until after
Stewart visits, of course. He has kindly offered to let
us amend our bid after he visits, although amendments are
restricted to a bullet point text email.
