Looking at the email below, you can see LA plans to visit us to check
our bid out. We didn't do so well at this last year. This year I plan
to do a better job.

That job will consist of taking them on a walk through of QUT, and then
onto the other venues we will be using. Right now I have verbal "yeah,
sure that will be no problem - we will be happy to do a sell job on
them" assurances from most of the venues. But now we have come to the
pointy end of the stick and they have to make a commitment.

But before that can happen, we, Humbug, have to make a few decisions.
And given the first date they propose - and their and my preferred one,
is this weekend, these decisions have to be made here, on this list, in
the next day or two.

The first one is comparatively easy. Here are the three three possible
venues for the Speakers Dinner:

Option 1: Cruise the river and dine in historical elegance

  Brisbane cruises ...................... From $ 47 pp
1 hour cruise with drinks & canapés
Customs House ......................... From $120 pp
2 course meal with 4 hour drinks
					  =============
					  TOTAL $167 pp

Option 2: A true South Bank experience

  Nepalese Pagoda ....................... From $ 40 pp ($10 hire + $30 F&B)
    1 hour drinks and canapés
  River Room ............................ From $ 96 pp ($19 hire + $77 F&B)
2 course meal with 4 hour drinks
					  =============
                                          TOTAL $136 pp

Option 3: Drink in some culture then dine in style at Riverside

  Nepalese Pagoda ....................... From $ 40 pp ($10 hire + $30 F&B)
    1 hour drinks and canapés
  Transfer by CityCat to Riverside, ..... From $102 pp ($11 hire + $91 F&B)
  Downtown Rugby Club
2 course meal with 4 hour drinks
                                          =============
TOTAL $142 pp (+ CityCat ride)

All we have to do is choose one. Post you preference / comments here.
If there is a clear consensus by 5 PM tomorrow I will go with that, but
if you are all too slack to reply I will go with Option 1. The options
above were actually part of the original bid document Brisbane Marketing
gave us, and there may be more information on them in there. But don't
count on it. You can find there original bid document here:

http://www.stuart.id.au/lcawiki/BidDocument/Bid?action=AttachFile&do=get&target=080829-Bid_LCA2010.doc

One I have that decision in hand and gather responses from the venues on
what dates they are available, I will know what dates are possible.
Then, if there are several, we will have to choose one. That will
happen on by Thursday midday.

Hi Russell,

Firstly, thanks very much for the bid - we've received a few and they
all look great. It's going to be a hard decision this year.

That being said, we'd like to organise a time to spend some for myself
to spend some f2f time with the Brisbane 2010 bidding team, have a bit
of a walk around the venue etc.

Personally, I was thinking that before the final bid deadline would be
more useful to the team. This does give us some time restrictions
though.

This means either this weekend or Sunday next weekend (Saturday is the
LCA2009 papers f2f in Hobart).

Alternative dates would be 27th,28th September or early October, but
this is after the final bid deadline.

Would any of these days be good for your team?
