I've had no problems either, in 5.5 years. I guess it depends on the
area you live in on how likely phone line spikes are. These days a lot
of UPS' and power filters also have a filter for phone lines. I have no
idea how useful these filters are. My UPS has phone spike protection and
I don't use it. If it gets taken out, I'll have an excuse to get
something better with Annex M. I justified buying my all in one unit on
the basis of the phone savings by using VOIP. 2 years savings on line
rental costs paid for it. It wouldn't take that long these days.
Before that I had a separate modem, separate hub and separate wireless
units. Wall wart breeding ground! Thanks goodness I didn't go a separate
VOIP setup too. It's much tidier now.
