AFAIUI, AEST and EST are both correct.
AEST is an easy way to differentiate it within a global context,
however, EST is also perfectly valid given it is what we refer to it
in Australia. Just because the USA believes the own and are at the
centre of the universe does not mean they always have rights over
every generic TLA.
Anyhow, I prefer to use AEST for conciseness and/or UTC+10.
All that aside, I really prefer Brisbane to be UTC+11, however, that
doesn't work for anybody else :(
