Artificial optimisation is exactly that. It's false. With storage at
$0.80 per GB and processors sprouting cores at the rate they are, there
is no real benefit to gain from worrying about 100 vs 200 vs 800 MB of a
system install. You'd probably spend more time and cost reducing this
percevied overhead, than you'd ever gain back.

Stick with what you know, and what your team knows. You have to account
for the bus number[1], and if your team has some familiarity with
Debian, then stick with Debian.

Short of my personal views on Debian inspiring poor administration
practise, Linux is Linux is Linux is Unix from an administration
perspective.
