Just tried then. No luck, just a different set of error messages:

I tried using a static address rather than DHCP, but that caused the  
computer to hang. Here are some (but not all) of the error messages:

I then had to use the off switch to reboot the machine...

I tried a number of other drivers under wpa-driver but they did not  
work either. I think that hostap is the one that *should* work, from  
what dmesg says (see below).
