[H-GEN] What's this xauth list output mean?

Hi,

When I open a shell as root and type:

xauth list

I get a one line output related to display 0, and the process finishes. All seems well there.

When I do the same thing as user, I get something a bit like this:

linux-xxxx/name:0 MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 randomstring1
llinux-xxxx/name:1 MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 random string2
 123.156.78.101:0 MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 randomstring3

Where I've edited the text a bit for clarity. Then the process hangs around a while, there's a few internet packages and the next line gets printed:

<Another unknown IP>:0 MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 randomstring4

and so on. The process doesn't finish by itself. Only the first two lines seem like what I was expecting.

xauth info tells me there are some 7 entries in the Xauthorities file.

I have never used ssh, and my firewall has never been changed from default settings.

I wonder what that output means? There is nothing seemingly related in the xauth manpage.

Thanks in advance.

regards..... andrew.
