The type of warranty wasn't defined, as to whether it is on just the 
machine's parts, or on the machine in the condition it was sold in (ie, 
with windows on it).

If the warranty is of the usual former type, you should note that it may 
come back from repair with their preferred OS on it instead of your 
preferred development version of the Hurd, but otherwise there is no legal 
grounds for refusing to repair the machine.

If the latter, well, you're screwed as far as putting alternative OSes on 
it.
