Hi all, I am primarily trying to understand how MAPI works. This is
in relation to a problem I am experiencing in that mail is being
rejected by qmail with the error "Mail with no Date header not accepted here".
This is a problem that is occurring where I work*. This problem is
happening (only ??) when an email is sent from MYOB through outlook
express 6.0 I have tried sending emails from the machine (with MYOB
on it) straight from OE and it sends and is received into the mailbox
correctly BUT if an email is generated from MYOB and it is sent via
OE it seems to be rejected.
So the question is. Does the MAPI interface act purely as a pass
though device or does it generate the mail headers as well, before
sending the email? As in does MYOB generate the entire email and pass
it to OE to send or does MYOB send the message body and the 'To'
address for OE to assemble.
I have located in the perl script where it does the checking for the
date header and (I hope) commented it out (if # is the correct way)
so I'll have to test it this week. The other thing is I'm not sure
where check_basicheaders is called from. Could this be part of the
spamassasin suite (I'm only new to SA as it installed as an option
and I thought I'd give it a go, previously used ASSP)
Does this make sense?

* The admin and payroll people run a windows XP systems with OE and
MYOB, everybody gets paid and the payslips are send via email, or
they are supposed to.
