[H-GEN] Mounting H/D

Hi All....Thanks to those who replied to my Q re Copying one H/D to 
another.....work still in progress.....
Running Mandriva Linux 2006 on 2x80gb h/ds.....both on CS  (cable  
select )    when i try to mount the partitions on the  hbd drive via the 
hdba drive with "mount -t ext2 /dev/hdb3 /mnt/hdb3" i get the messagge 
"either /dev/hdb3 is mounted or /mnt/hdb3 is busy"  ...the hbd3 
partition is not mounted......
any ideas on how to fix this problem
