We are doing a forum in Sydney tomorrow that will cover this exact issue.
As I understand it, running DVDs was an exception in the AUSFTA (after all
we were in there whinging about it ;) however exceptions need to be renewed
every year, so we may have a problem. One thing that is being looked at is
"Fair Use", which is what effectively counterbalances the borked legislation
in the US. Anyway, the forum tomorrow is about anti-circumvention, and will
be also covering Fair Use. We have lawyers, developers and CAL (Copyright
Agency Limited) speaking, so it should prove interesting. We'll be recording
the event, so I'll post when it is available.

If you want to run an open source forum on any topic in Brissie, feel free,
but let me know so I can post it to the website. AJ is coming to the one
tomorrow, so bug him about ho it goes :)

Cheers,
Pia
