[H-GEN] remove software not installed via rpm?

Hi group

I appear to have vmware installed on my Mandrake 10 box, although it's not
configured (executing "vmware" tells me to run the config script), but when I
do that it complains about various things. That's not really an issue (so
far) because I want to remove this version (4.0) completely and install a
later version.

If I do "which vmware" I get /usr/bin/vmware (executable, not a symlink) but
when I try to search for an rpm of vmware I can't find anything. So, finally
to the question :-) How do I get rid of all/any existing vmware files in
preparation for installing a later version, for which I have an rpm?

thanks a lot
David
