My recommendation is to get the Linux version and run the Windows inside that.
The reason for that is that vmware allows for non-persistent sessions. Here's
what I do when setting up windows in vmware:
* Create a new, persistent session
* Install windows and configure
* Install software you want to use
* Set session to non-persistent
If you store all your data on a network share (read: share the files from your
linux host) then every time you shut down vmware, your windows system
automagically goes back to the disk image it used before. Any changes you
make disappear.
The reason I like this is:
* No need to worry about fragmentation
* No need to worry about viruses and spyware
* No need to worry about installing software and crashes windows or mucks up
the registry
Note: I could have said that linux is more stable or runs most of your apps
and should then be the host, but I feel the non-persistent sessions the most
beneficial to me.
Regards,
Josh.
