I beg to differ, the original poster was indeed correct. Microsoft
didn't ship DOSKEY until version 5.0 in 1991.
The only new commands in 3.1 were join and subst.

contains a reasonable listing of what was introduced when, and is far
easier than unpacking the old DOS disks I have downstairs, installing a
5 1/4" drive and checking for myself.
