[H-GEN] Debian and FireFox with Java

Hi,

I want to run java applets in side firefox on my debian testing machine.
This is normally just a matter of coping the plugin to the relevent
directory and away you go.

I believe the problem is the plugin is compiled using gcc3.2 and firefox
is compiled with gcc3.3 and when you go to load an page with a java
applet in it the browser just crashes.

So I believe that the problem is the conflicting gcc versions of the 2
programs.

I am thinking about manually compiling a copy of firefox using gcc3.2
however I am thinking that that would probably stuff up the flashplugins
that I have installed from the debian repository.

I was just wondering if there is someone who can guide me down the best
path to having java and firefox and flash all working together on my
debian testing system and confirm that my above thoughts are correct.
