It depends where you were working and how well you survived the dot com
crash it seems. I know my pay took a very substantial cut the dot com I
was working for laid my department off. Everyone (including guys who
could fix Oracle database table files with vi, a calculator and a pad of
paper) in the department took resonable pay cuts, and were out of a job
for a few months. The market is picking up now, and it has been on the
steady increase as people who were only in the game for the money are
leaving for greener pastures.
