[H-GEN] Conversion between UNICODE and SQL_ASCII not supported

I have recently converted from RH8 to Mandrake 9.2 and find that I can
no longer connect to a remote Postgres DB using PGAccess. I keep getting
the following error: "Conversion between UNICODE and SQL_ASCII is not
supported". I had no trouble with RH8. Can anyone help me with this?
