[H-GEN] Aliase loopback device

Dear all,
Please help me with this problem, I have been trying to configure the alias 
for the loopback device to support the IBM network dispatcher but failed.

I used the command # ifconfig lo:1 130.130.1.1 up
and once the lo:1 is up, my other network interface would be disconnected 
from the network.

I can ping from the station to other network devices but unable to ping from 
other network devices to this station.

Could anyone of you help me with this issue?

I am running Linux ES 3 with Kernel version 2.4.21.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
