[H-GEN] Software for the Vision Impaired

Hi guys,

I'm wondering if there's any software available for linux
(similar to the Zoom Text program available for windows) which increases
screen resolution extremely high so normal text appears to have a size
of 72 points, and also has the capability of being able to read text in
windows or where the mouse pointer is...

I'm going blind by a disease called Leber's disease, an optic
degenerative disease which affects the eyes, slowly causing the optic
nerve to die leaving you with only peripheral vision left.
