I have nothing specific to offer in regards to TPG, but you will find
that almost all modems that have an Ethernet connection use Linux
internally.
It is transparent to the user though. You use a web browser interface to
set your username/password and the modem will login for you. All you do
then is set the default route to be the modem and you are away. All the
NATing is done on the modem, some even have a firewall built-in.
My Dynalink RTA230 does not have a stateful firewall, so I assume it
uses ipchains instead of iptables. That's fine, I plan on using the
firewall rules I already have in place and turned off the modems firewall.
