All the key application I need at home (World of Warcraft) doesn't run
at all under Linux. It does run on a Mac, though, and if my money tree
sprouts any time soon I can ditch the Windows machine altogether.
But even so, I would still strongly recommend a home router. There are
fewer exploits for a home router than for your average Linux box, even
those home routers running a variant of Linux. It's also generally
easier to keep a router up to date than it is to keep a Linux host up to
date.
