One thought is what type of DSL Modem are you using (I can't remeber)[1].
You may be lucky and be able to extract the logs from the modem itself. I
can do this with my D-Link DSL-504 to match the ISP usage charges against
the traffic that goes across the modem itself. DSL Modems interesting
little beasts, and are useful in terms of monitoring network traffic - most
are just little un*x machines [2].
