I used to be a Quantum Fireball only person, but they can no longer be
found. I wanted an ATA133 HD to match my ATA133 HD controller, and it
looks like Maxtor are the only ones that do ATA133. On the other hand,
ATA133 HDs don't seem to be able to take full advantage of that bandwidth.
On the gripping hand, my boot HD is a Maxtor ATA133 20GB that I have had
for longer, and with no problems.

When I am employed again, my next major computer purchases will be to
upgrade all my HDs to high speed SCSI. Everything else in my computer is
very quick, the HDs are holding it back. Back in the days when 60MB was a
large HD, I used to be a SCSI only man.

This does bring up the topic of what is a good brand of Linux compatible
SCSI controller? What is a good brand of SCSI HD? For both questions, I
would only want whatever is the current high speed SCSI standard.

After the upgrade, there will be a few IDE HDs available for free to a good
home. HUMBUG gets first refusal, unless my brother comes up for a holiday
at exactly the right time again (which is why he went home with my Duron 900).
