Hi Harry.  This sort of thing is completely shell dependent.  Perhaps RH
has different defaults, so change them for your user a/c in the
appropriate rc file (eg, .bashrc).

Can't recall offhand but (assuming we are talking about bash) the bash man
page should be enlightening.
