If I read 
http://public.ldp.planetmirror.com/HOWTO/DSL-HOWTO/configure.html#BRIDGEVSPPP 
correctly, then you should be able to configure your ethernet interface 
to just use static assignment/DHCP as per their instructions.  Or 
alternatively, spend a few hundred and get an ADSL router -- most of 
them support RFC1483.

I haven't set up a Linux machine to talk directly to an ADSL link using 
this method before (our connection uses RFC1483, but we use an ADSL 
router) but at the surface of it, it doesn't look too complex.
