Certainly it would not have been easy -- but surely one of the
few things that you could expect programmers to have learned
over the past 20 years is that it's infuriating for users if
they can't use basic capabilities that they've had to master
just because some idiot thinks it would be better done some
other way.
And keeping something like geometry specifications available on
the command line would have been a matter of minutes, not more,
in the overall context of many months or years of work. Simply
inexcusable.
