Hi all.

I have finally gotten the mac openfirmware to boot into linux, which involved
building null modem cables to the weird mac pinout. The first node is running
debian stable with kernel 2.4.18.

One really odd quirk between the old kernel (2.2.20) and the current is the change
of mac address, for the same network card.
Relevant snippits from syslog:
2.4 (tulip):
Linux Tulip driver version 0.9.15-pre9 (Nov 6, 2001)
PCI: Enabling device 00:0f.0 (0004 -> 0007)
tulip0: 21041 Media table, default media ffff (Autosense).
tulip0: 21041 media #0, 10baseT.
tulip0: 21041 media #1, 10base2.
tulip0: 21041 media #2, AUI.
eth0: Digital DC21041 Tulip rev 33 at 0x400, 21041 mode, 00:A0:40:6E:34:AC, IRQ 25.

2.2 (de4x5):
eth0: DC21041 at 0x0400 (PCI bus 0, device 15), h/w address 00:05:02:76:2c:35,
and requires IRQ25 (provided by PCI BIOS).

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

In other news, Barry has taken over the pc h/w from me, and both clusters are
accumulating more hardware. Thankyou to all who have donated to the cause.

Regards,
Marco
