I'd had a bit of a play with knoppix on a couple of boxes which had redhat
8.0 on them and ext3 filesystems. I found that if I logged out of the gui
and let knoppix shutdown, it would cause problems with the journal on the
ext3 fs - essentially e2fsck would remove the journal to fix the problem.
It isn't a problem if the fs is umounted manually before rebooting knoppix.
This was all with knoppix 3.1; Knoppix 3.2 is out now, but I haven't tried
it out on a ext3 fs yet.

Regards,

Robert
