Yes, the second part of the question is definitely odd. The issue has
been done to death in just about every forum that deals with 'nix around
the world, to point that it is getting painful to watch. To imply the
community is not taking an interest in this is simply absurd - unless
you have no idea where to look.
Perhaps they don't. Perhaps this issue has just hit the radar screen of
some local news outlet who doesn't follow the online 'nix communities -
Raymond doesn't say. In that case a comment from our local humbug
luminaries is a good idea, I think. We are a community group after all,
and suppling information to our local media should be part of our
charter.
If this national media outlet then the picture changes. Firstly, if our
'nix national bodies are useful for anything this must be it - so let
them handle it. Secondly, I have trouble believing a national media is
not already aware of our reaction to it. Given, that, Sarah's
conspiracy theory about them just fishing to a nice inflammatory
sound-bite from a Linux advocate is looking good.
