we use to do all our accounting with MYOB, but about 1 year ago we
switched to doing everything on a spreadsheet. We even got a template
from the ATO, and we now use a excel spreadsheet that they provided. And
as many of you know the excel format is well supported by openoffice and
staroffice (well certainly to the degree of complexity that would be
required in tracking GST etc). Although we have yet to try it on a linux
box (we currently do our accounts on OS X), but it does give you another
choice. However we are a small company, and the spreadsheet has greatly
simplied tracking for use, but I'm not too sure how well it would scale,
