I've just installed (not updated) Postgresql on a RH7.3 box using the update
rpms. When finished, I noticed that a new user account, "postgres" had been
created. This was expected, but what was not expected is that the uid and
gid for this new account are the same as the uid and gid for the user account
that the cvs pserver uses. I'm guessing that this is _not_ a good thing.

So I'm now asking if some one can confirm that my guess is correct, and, if so
suggest a way to remedy the situation without simply removing Postgres
altogether.

The best thing I've thought of so far is:
1. Remove Postgres.
2. Take CVS off line.
3. Use chown and find to change the uid and gid of all files owned by the cvs
account.
4. Change the uid and gid for the cvs account & group in /etc/passwd &
/etc/group.
5. Re-install Postgres.

Any better suggestions gratefully accepted.
